Annual and Five-year inspections of fire sprinkler systems are comprehensive procedures which, when completed, will confirm that all sprinkler system components are in good condition and will ensure the system’s successful operation.

During an annual fire sprinkler inspection, physical checks are performed on all the parts of your fire sprinkler system. These checks include water flow tests, control valve test, main drain test, visual check of all sprinklers and pipe.

During a five-year fire sprinkler inspection, physical checks are performed on all the parts of your fire sprinkler system. This includes all of the testing of the annual inspection but also includes a test of the check valves on your fire sprinkler system and a full flush of your Fire Department Connection (FDC).

The purpose of a check valve is to allow water to flow into your fire sprinkler system from the water supply but not allow it to flow back out, which could contaminate your water supply.
